Well hello 2021. Boy are we glad to see you! The phrase “out with the old and in with the new” has never been more relevant than it is today. Now is the perfect time for a clear out and there is nothing quite like starting a new school year with a tidy wardrobe. I don’t know about anyone else, but I was always amazed at the amount of school uniform that I discovered in my children’s bedrooms (invariably “hung” on the floor!) If I didn’t insist on the half-termly “please just try it on!” sessions I knew that there would be screams of panic on the first morning back at school. How many other households wake up in January to the familiar soundtrack: Where’s my tie? Mum, have you seen my PE kit? My trousers are too short – did you shrink them? Has anyone seen my blazer – I’m sure I left it on the sofa?
Current Covid-19 guidelines (classroom windows open) mean that many children are feeling the cold – our fine knit jumpers for Abbey College and Northstowe Secondary College are ideal for adding an extra layer under blazers. We have also just introduced some fantastic quality plain baselayer tops and tights which are ideal for those chilly winter PE days. If you can’t pass on any outgrown uniform to family or friends, please do consider donating it to us at The Green School shop in St Ives. Watch this space for news of how we are adapting our unform recycling service in the current climate.
